Statement of Intent In order to establish a coherent brand identity of vintage film appreciation across my two front covers and contents pages, I constructed a media text that would appeal to a target audience of culturally-sophisticated 16-25-year-old film lovers, specifically lovers of classic film, a nugget of film history that many educated young people adore. The magazine industry is competitive, but approaching the film magazine with a niche element of film ensures that there is an existing audience ready to sink their teeth into such content. Furthermore, being published by Bauer – a company famous for publishing a range of magazines from Cosmopolitan and Empire – ensures that there is a successful company behind the brand. I wanted to represent this target audience in a positive light by honouring their passion and knowledge and enhancing that through my magazine and website.
